1. Work Experience (Academic)

1996- 2007 Principal, P.V. Polytechnic, S.N.D.T. Women's University, Mumbai.
Initiated 3-year-degree courses in Fashion Technology and Design, Interior Design, Optometry, Clinical Laboratory Science and Jewellery Design and Manufacture. During my tenure, the institute received ISO 9000-2001 certification. Upgraded the institute’s laboratories, workshops and infrastructure to meet standards of accreditation by National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi.

1986- 1996 - Head of Dept. of Interior Design at P.V. Polytechnic, S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai. Developed the course into one of the finest and most sought after for women in Interior Design.

1979- 1986 – Lecturer, Architectural Assistantship at Girls’ Polytechnic, Guwahati.
Initiated the curriculum and developed the A.A. course holistically over 8 years.

1. 1 Work Experience (Community Development)
Promoted and mentored the growth of Polytechnics for women in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Established and conducted developmental activities through the Community Polytechnic Scheme of Govt. of India. Set up training centres in rural Maharashtra and slums of Mumbai to conduct short, technical job-oriented courses for youth. (1996-2007)
 
Revival programmes for dying crafts - evolving new designs for terracotta products, bamboo based products and jewellery products under the DC (Handicrafts) Min. of Textiles (2002-2007).

Model Low Cost Houses in Thane Dist., under Indira Awās Yojna.

Project for the Ratnapith College of Arts at Chapar Village, Dhubri Dist. of Assam. Recognized with prestigious IIA Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Award (in 1995) for Excellence in Rural Architecture.

3. Activities
Rotarian since 2002. Was awarded Appreciation for Four Avenues of service Citation by RI President Jonathan Majigabwe, Rotary International in 2004. 

Served as President of Rotary Club of Mumbai Green City Dist. 3140 from 2005-2006

Awarded Sikshan Ratna at the “Star Ratna Award” function organised by Hira Manek Group at Birla Matushri Sabhagruha in April, 2007.

Interested in climate-conscious building design, in History of Art, Architecture and Culture. Currently conducting research for Ph.d under SNDT Women’s University in aspects of Indian Cultural History.
